My dog the weed

This dog grows faster than is at all reasonable.

The Patio to Be

We've started excavating the area where we will later put down gravel, sand and pavers.

This project started out with the simple goal of leveling this area of the lawn and repairing a broken PVC pipe. Between all the roots we've found from a camphor tree my father-in-law cut down for us last fall and the remains of what we think may be an old septic tank, it has become a herculean feat.

notes to self

Posts to follow: a patio to be, hometeaching, the end of one quarter and the beginning of another (fingers crossed), better one, telling tales out of school, gem show, Delver's Guild, the unattainable Wii, Anoushka Shankar, goodies customs at work, Kung-Fu, Casino Royale, Alani's stitches, the upcoming D&D game, creating a new campaign world, mystery student loans bills, webcams in the classroom, stickam, Rosetta Stone, the Hmong Language Preservations Society, time to read - and get points for it, BTSA, Web Access and tech ineptitude, and finally: "Sleeping In: What I Imagine."

Just What I Was Afraid Of

I was initially hesitant to begin a blog at all - fearing that I would lack the time, interest, or suitable material to post regularly enough to make the blog worth visiting.

I have been very busy. I have not the most exciting life ever . . . Most of all, though, I think I'd just forgotten - in the daily mix of things, this is relatively low on the priority list, unfortunately, so I haven't posted as much as I would like.

But I'll try to be better about it. I do certainly have stuff I could post and now that I've remembered, I'll try to post something later today - I just remembered that I'm supposed to be at Suzanne's house right now helping to reset a fountain.

Stranger than Fiction

I'm not usually the first person in line to sing Will Ferrell's praises, but Shel and I just saw this brilliant piece of cinema, and I can't say enough about it. Great cast. Great story. Great acting.

I'm thinking of writing a paper about this film. I really enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.
